Did you ever realize how artistic Pat was?
One day long ago, Pat decided to try his hand at decorating Mom's sun hat for her. One hat turned into many creations, depended on his flowers, butterflies, and other ideas he had for the next artistic moment. Each one is different from the other but always bring a smile to peoples faces as Mom walks down the street or drives by, especially the children who never judge but appreciate the fun with which they were created. Spreading happiness in so many ways, out of the borders of what is considered normal or safe or acceptable.

The hats. What a delight. They are still making people smile and laugh long after Pat is gone. One day I went into the garage and found him decorating one of my hats. He had a variety of flowers on the table out there and was carefully choosing which would go best on the hat he had chosen. This was sort of like the way he cooked when we had the inn. He would serve soup,or a dish and carefully position the veggies, or a flower decoration carefully. He really was an artist. But back to the hats. When he saw I was delighted he gathered the rest of my hats and began to decorate them, getting more artistic with each hat. He put butterflies, even a turtle with a nodding head on them. On Mothers day I was wearing my black one and a young man, walking down the street said, Happy Mother's Day. I think it was the hat. A neighbor complimented me on my hat and I told him about Pat's work. I know Pat was happy that I would actually wear the hats. The neighbor said, "you can carry it off.". You just gotta laugh.
ReplyDeleteOnce in a while some foogy will make an uncomplimentary remark. Pour souls can't take anything out of the ordinary. I always said I wanted to wear flowers on my hat when I got older. Well I am older and I am wearing flowers on my hat, thanks to Pat.
